A trust built by people who know medicine

Helping Life Charitable Trust was set up by professionals from India’s pharmaceutical, pharmacy and banking sectors who saw, every day, how many people go without the medicines they need.

Why we exist

Across India, people are prescribed medicines they cannot afford. Some cut doses to make a strip last longer. Others stop treatment altogether. At the same time, good medicines sit unused in warehouses and pharmacies until they come close to expiry.

Our trustees work inside that supply chain. They know the distributors, the companies and the pharmacies, and they know how medicines should be stored, checked and handed over. The Trust brings these two things together: surplus and need.

We collect safe, in-date medicines through our industry network, buy what is not available as donations, and give them free of charge to patients who have a valid prescription and no means to pay.

Our mission is to make sure no one in need goes without the medicines they have been prescribed.

What guides us

Dignity

People who ask for help are treated with respect and privacy, never made to feel they are a burden.

Safety

Only sealed, in-date medicines, given against a prescription and handled the way a good pharmacy would.

Transparency

Every donation is recorded and receipted, and our accounts are audited and open to donors.

Reach

We use our network across India so help is not limited to one city or one pharmacy counter.

Our trustees

The Trust is guided by seven trustees who give their time and experience voluntarily.
